About Us
Chambers has 15 full members, having started with four in January 2005. We wish to expand cautiously over the next few years.
Most of our work is based in criminal law. We prosecute and defend in the Crown Court, but maintain diverse practices, and are determined not to become too dependent on publicly-funded work. We value not only our Crown Court work but our extradition, judicial review and mutual legal assistance specialisations, building upon the practice which Alun Jones QC has developed over many years, and advisory work in the field of international criminal law.
Three of our members are full time immigration practitioners, conducting work in business immigration and asylum. We are regularly involved in judicial review, and two of our members specialise in the obtaining of emergency interlocutory injunctions.
As a small set of chambers, our members have individual practices. We believe we provide a more personal service to our clients than many of the very large sets of criminal chambers which now self-consciously promote a corporate approach. Our clerks, Joel Michaels and Chris Sacker, are in an excellent position to clerk us as individuals in this working environment.
Ownership gives us independence.
We are looking for barristers who share our outlook and ambition. We welcome applications for membership from established practitioners in criminal and immigration law. Applications from small teams will be considered. There are wonderful opportunities here for senior juniors and junior silks. They will be free to develop, unrestrained by hierarchies, to acquire a capital stake in a growing business, and to flourish, as barristers should, as individuals.
