Mr Lodge made his reputation as a specialist jury advocate in serious criminal cases. He has developed an expertise in extradition and allegations of international fraud and money laundering. He is co-author of The Blackstone's Guide to the Terrorism Act 2006, published by Oxford University Press and has written articles on covert surveillance in Terrorist and serious cases, his recent publication on Legal Services in the Digital Age was serialised in the June and July 2009 issue of Counsel.
Mr Lodge's recent Crown Court experience includes murder, large scale drugs importation, people and contraband smuggling, firearms, rape, and serious sexual assault cases. Mr Lodge is also instructed in trading standards cases. He is available for complex work in the magistrates' court, including licensing, confiscation and extradition.
Current cases include allegations of organised crime: large scale importation of cocaine from Colombia, 'Yardie' kidnap and shooting in Brixton, contraband, drugs and illegal immigration cases. He has been instructed in serious fraud matters with an international dimension. His experience includes successfully contesting matters under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.
Mr Lodge has a particular expertise in the law of online Gaming. He has been instructed by several leading City law firms to advise on aspects of double criminality, specialty and the precise application of the Extradition Act 2003.
Mr Lodge studied law at Downing College, Cambridge where he was Master of Moots and President of the University Law Conference. He trained in Treasury Counsel’s room at the Old Bailey. He has been retained as a peer review editor by Oxford University Press.
