Summary:


Peter maintains a truly international practice. In addition to practising from Great James Street Chambers, he maintains Chambers in both Sydney and Brisbane. He also provides advice on all areas of the common law in Germany as a member in the law firm Reinert, Lange & Ziebeil, which also has an office in New York. As Of Counsel to the law firm Houri & Ghalayini, Peter also provides advice in the Middle East region.

His practice is pre-dominantly criminal. However, he also provides advice and appears in commercial matters and in related areas of the law.

Current Cases:

Junior to Phillip Boulten SC in a terrorist case involving plans to attack Australian energy supplies and military installations (New South Wales Supreme Court, currently before the Court)

Junior to Ian Barker QC in a case involving the supposed compilation of a terrorist manual (New South Wales Supreme Court, April 2006).

Junior to Ian Barker QC in a terrorist training case (New South Wales Supreme Court, November 2006).

Junior to Richard Burbidge QC in the largest terrorist case in Australian history, alleging a conspiracy to commit various acts of terrorism in the Sydney area, including against Australia's only nuclear reactor in Southern Sydney (New South Wales Supreme Court, 2007).

Professional Experience:

· Successful appeal to the Bayerisches Oberstes Landesgericht (Court of Appeal) in a criminal matter.
· Provided advice in various “Nazi forced labourer” class action law suits then pending in U.S. federal courts, which were subsequently settled for a multi-billion dollar sum.
·Special Assistant District Attorney, New York County District Attorney’s Office, Appeals Bureau.
· Previously employed by a commercial law firm in New York City.
Other Professional Experience
·Invited by the College of Law in New South Wales to deliver a paper on extradition law in March 2006
· Delivered a paper on trans-jurisdictional litigation on behalf of an Australian CPD provider.
· Delivered papers on the new Commonwealth Proceeds of Crime Act Previously on behalf of the College of Law in New South Wales, and also Queensland Law Society, as part of their respective CPD programmes.

·Presently completing a doctoral dissertation comparing the laws of admissibility of confessions in Germany and England
· Previously research fellow at the Institute of Legal Philosophy and Legal Computing at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich.
